Rules last updated: 3/7/2006 - Posted by tj9991 at 10:21 PM
Changes:
3/7/2006
Don't double post! Don't tripple post! Don't quadruple post, if that is a word! There is an edit button on your posts for a reason. Don't neglect it when you need to change something you said, or need to add something. If you're doing this on accident, try to get in the habit of editing your posts. If you're doing this in order to raise your post count, go play a game or something. You shouldn't care about that little number that displays on your profile that much ![]()
I'm going to bump this topic whenever I edit the rules, so you guys can stay updated.

Free Gmail addresses! - Posted by tj9991 at 10:10 PM
I am offering Gmail accounts, each with 2GB of space. Google accepted MK:DSC into their Gmail on your domain test, which means you will get a mail address @mkdsc.com, but it will be hosted by Gmail.
This is completely free, and infact I encourage you to get one. I told Google that I needed 100+ email accounts for my users, and I don't want to let them down.
So just reply with the address you would like. Maybe something like marioforever@mkdsc.com or powerslide@mkdsc.com ![]()
Your forum nickname will work just as fine, too.
Also, I need your first name and last name. When I make a new account it makes me enter one.
Once I have set up your account, I'll PM you with your temporary password.
To log in once you have your temporary password, visit http://mail.google.com/hosted/mkdsc.com/

Clan Control Panel - Posted by tj9991 at 07:46 PM
I'm not going to add it to the menus, but I have set up a clan control panel at http://www.mkdsc.com/clancp.php
If you're already in a clan, it shows you how many and the usernames of the people in your clan, and you can invite more. It will send them a private message with a link on joining.
Don't send people multiple invites, the script logs who sends the invites, so I will find you ![]()
You can also leave a clan from the control panel.
Remember, just because you changed your custom title text to the way it looks for other members, doesn't mean youre in that clan. Special options are set in the database to prove youre in that clan, so if youre just faking it, I suggest PM'ing one of the clan leaders for an invite.
Also, don't just randomly send people invites to the clan. If they want to join, they'll make a post about it or let someone in the clan know ![]()
It might be buggy, I did it pretty fast. Let me know of any bugs you find, or suggestions on the script.
Host your own tournaments! - Posted by tj9991 at 02:57 PM
I have added a new forum labeled "User-Hosted Tournaments", so go ahead and host/enter any tournaments hosted by the user base ![]()
Soon you won't need to use just the forum to submit/enter tournaments, I'm working on various projects for the forum including karma, a topic rating system, a tournament control panel, and a clan control panel. Unfortunately I'm not a professional programmer or anywhere near that, so it's going to take a while, but we will get them ![]()
Hope to see a few of you organize some tourney's ![]()

Low content posts and you! - Posted by tj9991 at 05:44 PM
If you haven't yet, I'd suggest reading Maverick's posting guide.
From the timestamp of this post on I don't want to see one word posts. I don't want to see posts only containing "oh, lol" or "yeah, what he said", etcetera. The only one word posts I ever want to see is possibly in a trivia thread where your post is the answer to the question, anything else and you had better have a good reason.
I'm going to not punish you guys right off the bat, but after a bit of time we will start using disciplinary actions. Right now we'll probably just do warnings and ask you not to do it again. It might sound like a lot, but it really isn't. Just because you want your postcount higher doesn't give you the right to fill threads with spam it doesn't need.
Also, CaPiTaLiZaTiOn and ,.;'punctuation';., are your friends! They help you out when you need to sound formal, or just having an IQ higher than my shoe size!
If someone posts "Hey guys, my USB connector isn't working, where is the troubleshooting page at?", and someone posts the link, dont say "Yah, that's the link.". It's completely unnecessary, you're not contributing to the thread at all in any manner. However, if you had a witty joke about trying to fix your USB connector and your cat jumped on your lap and made you spill hot chocolate milk all over yourself and your keyboard, that thread would be an appropriate time to tell it. This would get a chuckle out of the people reading it, and we like it when we hear a good joke!
If someone makes a low content post and it isn't warned/action isn't taken after a while, then me or Maverick probably missed it, and that's where the handy "Report" button in the bottom right comes in play. Just click that and whip up a spiffy reason why that's a low content post and send it whizzing off to the reported post queue. It doesn't just have to be low content, you can also report flaming or octuple posts etc.
I'll probably edit this later on, so for now just try to remember this is a community. It's not a quick conversation with a friend. When you post something, anyone else can read it and anyone reading the thread probably will read it. Just try to make something contributive to the thread. I'd really appreciate it if you all did <3
